Faux Finish Techniques
by Angelika Oeckl
Sunday, March 5 • Noon to 4:00 pm • $75
Learn faux painting techniques you can use on a multitude of miniature objects— create an aged look, peeling paint, crackles, faux wood, tarnishes and patinas. Angelika is a very talented miniaturist who will show you how to create rust and make things look like tin or pewter. You will see techniques on how to make and apply decals, how to apply rub ons, and use transfer mediums to transfer images on to different surfaces such as porcelain plates or adding old advertising to wood.
The 4-hour class time does not permit the creation of an actual project in class. Instead, you will learn many different techniques you can then apply later to your projects at home. You will leave with samples you made and the recipe to recreate the techniques at home. Students should bring several different brushes— flat, stiff, soft— and masking tape and a heat gun if you have one. Also bring pen and paper for additional note-taking. Register for the Faux Finish Techniques workshop by emailing Angelika here. |
Happiness is ... Free Classes for Children!
Grandma Dolly is getting ready for the first 10 children between the ages of 6 and 16 who sign up at the show to make and decorate a hutch, adding plates and flowers.
Classes will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday and again at 1:00 pm on Sunday. Roughly an hour long. Parents can stay and observe or help (or use the time to shop without having to monitor the children). |
